RELATIONSHIPS
The Draughtsman reports to the Principal Engineer of the section to which he is assigned.
AUTHORITY WITHIN DEPARTMENT
The Draughtsman can check all engineering documents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
" To produce engineering documents (such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals) and ensure they are completed within the required timescales
" To issue engineering documents as required
" To assist in general clerical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the Engineering Department
" To progress small and medium sized engineering projects, as allocated by the Principal Engineer, or working as part of a team on larger projects. In both cases, most work should be carried out with minimal supervision, but with regular consultation with the Principal Engineer or other team members
" Project work, in addition to draughting, will include design input and calculations, as well as other organisational tasks as deemed appropriate by the Principal Engineer in order to ensure timely progress of projects being worked on.
" To remain constantly aware of targets and progress of projects being worked on and communicate with colleagues and line manager in relation to delays or changes in relation to work progress.
" To liaise with clients and suppliers as required
" To assist trainee draughtsmen as required
" To provide engineering support to all areas
" To carry out other reasonable duties requested by the Principal Engineer.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
" To ensure that all assigned designs are independently checked for compliance with Company standards
" To ensure that only approved designs are issued for manufacture
" To ensure that the Company's engineering quality control and quality assurance procedures are adhered to.
TRAINING
" To keep up-to-date with relevant technology and with the operation of relevant hardware and software within the Engineering Department
" To actively participate in training which has been identified
" To assist in the training of staff.
HSE RESPONSIBILITIES
HSE Responsibilities of Managers and Supervisors.
In addition to the responsibilities of 'All Employees', Managerial and Supervisory positions include the following minimum responsibilities: 'The incumbent is responsible for Ensure that the HSE Management System is implemented within the operations under their control.
The incumbent must actively monitor the workplace to ensure that acceptable standards are maintained. Where risks are identified the incumbent must ensure that these risks are controlled, so far as is reasonably practicable. Managers and Supervisors must:
" Ensure that employees, contractors and visitors are aware of relevant HSE procedures,
" Establishing that all equipment, plant and substances used are suitable for the task and are kept in good working condition; this includes the regular maintenance and servicing of equipment,
" Providing adequate training, information, instruction and supervision to ensure that work is conducted without harm to people or the environment,
" Taking immediate and appropriate steps to investigate and rectify any risks to people or the environment arising from the work activity,
" Bringing to the prompt attention of senior management any HSE issue that requires their attention,
" Ensure that all incidents are properly recorded and reported and that an investigation is carried out to establish and rectify root causes, " Actively participating in the HSE management system.

" Consider the safety of others who may be affected by your acts or emissions.
" Work in accordance with information, training & instruction provided.
" Refrain from intentionally misusing or recklessly interfering with anything that has been provided for health, safety and environmental reasons.
" Report any hazardous defects in plant and equipment, or shortcomings in the existing safety controls, to a Supervisor without delay.
" Not undertake any task for which authorisation and / or training has not been given.
" Report all accidents, incidents and hazardous situations to a Supervisor.
" Stop work immediately if you have any safety concerns over the task and discuss with a Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Engineering HNC and 1 year minimum relevant experience, or engineering ONC and 5 years minimum relevant experience.
